While turning your dream home idea into a reality is typically an exciting endeavor, the truth is that even though the systems and appliances in your new abode will be brand new, there is still the possibility that they could break or malfunction.

This is where a custom homeowner’s warranty could be a plus.

Custom homeowner’s warranties are a type of service agreement that cover some or all of the cost of repairing or replacing various structural elements of the house or unit, along with other items like the HVAC system, water heater, and/or major appliances.

In some cases, even items like faulty painting and/or wiring, along with leaks in the roof, will be covered in the plan. Likewise, if you have an outdoor swimming pool and/or spa built on your new home’s lot, these may be covered in part or in full, as well.

Because there is not just one single type or amount of custom home warranty coverage across the board, the protection – as well as the cost – can differ from one plan to another. This is also the case with regard to the term of the protection, as these warranties are often available in increments of 1, 2, 3, 5, or even 10-year coverage options.

Similar to other types of insurance, the cost of covering certain items as they get older can be more. So, it is possible that the amount of the policy’s premium might not stay the same throughout the entire term.
